Kyle's Commissioned
Masterpieces:
Age 18 Months

These three samples are typical of art children begin drawing at about age a year and a half (and representative of what you drew at the same age). Drawings by this age group are random, spontaneous creations. The lines in them are linear to circular in form - probably because that's all the more coordination kids have in their small limbs. (Kyle likes abrupt direction changes and lots of contrast - on this day anyways. He sent me other art that's all circles, but it was yellow and didn't scan into the computer very well.)

The discovery that you could make marks, that you were the captain of your creation had to have been a powerful ex- perience. Just watch a child in this age group concentrate as they make their masterpieces. (Who knows what's going on inside their brains?)

Untitled #1. Kyle Kasbohm,
Age 18 months.

Kyle most graciously agreed to produce these wonders - and for little or no commission. Typical of a young artist, his father Mike says "he'll draw when he's inspired, otherwise don't bother him". Kyle, sorry if these aren't right side up. Untitled artwork #2:

 Kyle's Untitled #3. Notable for it's
circular lines.
